A
Listed Building is recognised as of special architectural or historical
interest or both, and its details are on public record. Proposed changes
and additions to Listed Buildings require great sensitivity and care
in design.
Adding a conservatory or porch to a Listed Building requires Listed
Building Consent. |

|
| |
| Planning
Permission and or Building Regulation Approval may also be required
depending on the particular circumstances of the application. In simple
terms the addition of a conservatory or porch to a Listed Building
will always require Listed Building Consent and may also require Planning
Permission depending on the circumstances. |
| |
| Listing
does not mean that a building is mothballed, on the contrary, it safeguards
that any proposed alterations or additions respect the character of
the building and the case for the buildings preservation is taken
into account. Most importantly the system of Listed Building Consent
is a flexible one: over 90% of applications result in Planning
Permission being granted. |
| |
|
| The
owner or the owner's agent has to apply for Listed Building
Consent to the local Planning Authority. At various stages in
the process, English
Heritage has the role of advising the Local Authority on
the most important applications if required. |
|
|
| |
| It
is critical that the application is not only made correctly but also
sensibly. Applicants are strongly advised to appoint a suitably qualified
designer such as an architect or surveyor experienced in such work.
In this regard Van Dukes
Conservatories have their own Surveyor In House and a preferred
Architect retained as a Consultant to liaise with the Local Authority
and prepare the necessary applications. |
| |
| The
application will require Forms & Certificate, a Location Plan, a Block
Plan and Comprehensive Drawings. All this work takes time and requires
expertise, if you are considering adding a conservatory or porch to
a listed building then please contact Vandukes
(info@vandukes.com) for a Free
Consultation. Vandukes offer a totally bespoke range of conservatories,
porches, doors and windows traditionally manufactured to take account
